You’re taking a diploma in fashion. Why did you decide on this field of study?
When I was young, I would steal my mum’s clothes, put on heels, wrap myself in towels, and put on my own fashion shows at home.

As I grew up, however, I went through a phase of self-doubt as I thought that my passion was just a phase that every other girl goes through. So I tried working in other industries, but nothing really made an impact on me quite like the fashion scene and I always ended up in fashion-related work. That’s when I knew that it was something I wanted to pursue.

What do you enjoy most about fashion?
I just love fashion so much! It’s very expressive and there is no one definite theory; everybody is encouraged to express themselves through different styles and aesthetics. What’s more, it’s been very inspiring to witness more and more people trying to push the boundaries of fashion.

How would you describe yourself as a creative?
My style is edgy and I prefer dealing with darker themes that allow me to express my emotions through an artistic form. This style is also visible in my personal fashion sense.

What is your dream company to work at?
I want to say Vogue, but I don’t know… Actually, you know what, let’s dream big and aim for Vogue!

That said, I want to become a good enough designer to start my own fashion brand. It’s a dream for me to be able to handle not only the clothing design aspect of fashion, but also creative direction, styling, and photography, and to execute projects exactly the way I envision them.

Share with us some fashion designers that inspire you.
A recent favourite is definitely Demna, the creative director of Balenciaga, as well as other OGs like Rei Kawakubo and Martin Margiela.

We see that you’re in the process of getting your tattoos removed. Tell us why.
I got my tattoos done on impulse when I was only 18. I didn’t know what I wanted and just thought it was cool to get tatted like everybody else—ultimate regret!

I’m going to remove them all because I think I’ll look better with a clean slate in a wedding gown. I’m currently single but a girl can dream (laughs). By the way, each removal session costs about $1,000, so if you’re considering a tattoo but don’t feel ready, just don’t do it!
