Introduce yourself!
Hi, I’m Giggs, and I’m a second year business student at the Singapore Management University.
First things first’s you clearly have a good sense of style. Tell us more about your interest in fashion.
I’ve always been interested in fashion, but the Singaporean perspective and upbringing kind of forced me to be more realistic in terms of my future career, so that’s why I sort of pivoted towards business more.
Unfortunately, such is life as someone growing up in Singapore. But we’re glad to see you’re still expressing yourself through the way you dress, and your tattoos—tell us about them!
There’s not much of a story there (laughs), I just really like Greek mythology and the aesthetics of it and stuff.
Valid anyway! Tell us about some of your hobbies.
I love to run, especially alone. When I go on long runs, it gives me time to think and destress. Apart from that, my interest in fashion has been dying down a bit recently, so it’s now something I engage with only when I have the time to.
Do you have any favourite brands or designers?
Not specifically. I feel like a lot of designers don’t really tailor to the Asian body. I used to like Rick Owens and all that, but it’s so hard to pull off his stuff! I don’t really shop in Singapore as well since it’s really expensive. I prefer to shop overseas in places like Vietnam and Japan, where everything, even designer clothing, is just cheaper.
We take it you enjoy travelling then?
Yes, when I have the time. I was in China recently and visited Shanghai, Chengdu, and Guangzhou, and of course, I was out and about shopping at all of the clothing stores there. You can really pull off some nice fits there because of the weather!
