Introduce yourself!
I’m Jernell, and I’ll be starting school at Nanyang Polytechnic as a year one nursing student this year. I’m quite excited for it, because I’ve always wanted to help people, and I figured nursing would be a good way for me to do it, especially since I have an interest in science and biology in particular.

That’s nice! What other interests do you have?
I really like Peanuts. My favourite character is Lucy, but it’s really hard to find merch of her, so I carry around Snoopy stuff instead since he’s my second favourite character. Another interest that I have is fish—I don’t own any as pets, and frankly I don’t think I would ever want to (laughs). I just enjoy looking at them when I can. I recently went to the new Oceanarium for my birthday, and it was really nice!

Oh, I also like drawing and penpalling. I have a few different penpals from around the world, including America, Finland, and Indonesia.

That’s so cool! How did you get to know these penpals?
I met them on Instagram and TikTok. I don’t know them IRL, but it’s been fun getting to learn more about their lives and cultures. And I don’t just write them letters—I sometimes include things like sweets and tea, as well as postcards from my own travels.

Sweet! Finally, can you tell us about your personal style?
Hmm, I would say I just wear whatever I like.
