Introduce yourself!
I’m Thecla! I’m currently waiting for university to start, where I’ll be studying medicine. What draws me to medicine is how challenging it is. At one point, I actually imagined myself pursuing psychology or even teaching, but I realised that studying medicine allows me to master a lot of different skills within a single career. The fact that it’s so dynamic is what really drew me in!

How have you been spending your holidays in the meantime?
I’ve been catching up with a lot of friends, especially those who are heading overseas for their studies soon—I want to make sure I see them before they leave! I’m also really into music. I’m in a band, and we’ve been performing a bit here and there recently.

Oh! What is your band called?
I don’t want to promote it! Haha! Paiseh!

Have you been doing music for a while now? Is it a long-term project with this band?
Yes, I’ve been doing music for most of my life. I sing, and we’ve been together for…three years now? We haven’t written our own songs yet, but soon, maybe!

What are you looking forward to the most right now?
I guess I’m just looking forward to starting afresh with school and getting a glimpse of what my future will look like. Hopefully, in ten years, I’ll be in my residency, still friends with the people I’m friends with now, and have a clearer purpose of what I want to achieve in my career.

What would a perfect day look like for you?
Maybe traveling somewhere else! I don’t think I travel very often, or to places very far away. But if I had the time, I would like to travel somewhere far, far away—somewhere I know absolutely nothing about—just to see what life is like there and discover what that place has to offer.
