“I’m currently training to run a half marathon at the end of the year, so I'm trying my best not to get injured and am actively avoiding activities that would get me get injured.”
"In Singapore, the design scene is very focused on going higher and higher, and reaching achievements and success. Which is not to say that's wrong, but I think sometimes one gets a bit too wrapped up in that, which can be very exhausting, especially in school where everyone around you is like that.”
“I’m turning 25 this year and am learning to enjoy my own company, and keeping my body and mind fit as much as possible. As a start, I've recently begun going for runs and boxing classes. Although I’m rather new to these hobbies, I’ve already made them my personality traits!”
“My long-term goal as an artist art is to publish a comic of my own. It’s so easy to do so these days, even without a traditional art school background! So once I have a well-thought out narrative and everything, I'd like to publish my own comic. It's still in the works, so no further comment!”
“I’ll be starting university soon, and I’m most excited to make new friends. I do have a close group of friends right now, and I definitely love them, but it's always nice to meet new people and see how they're living different lives, and going through different experiences.”
“One of my favourite books is The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. It’s a heart-wrenching retelling of a Greek mythology about two best friends. Once, my mum got woken up by me crying when I was reading it at 3 in the morning, and she was like, “What’s wrong with my child?”.”
“I’m interested in the arts, but I realised that a job as an artist might not be the most feasible for me. Since leading the media team in some of my school's organisations, I’ve gravitated towards the graphic design field so that's what I'd like to pursue.”
“In my free time, I enjoy dressing up, walking around the city, reading, and most recently, writing poetry though I’m not that good at it yet! I’m currently reading A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara—I just started on it, so so far, so good!”
“This year, I want to make more time for the things that really matter to me, like my loved ones. My goal is to have one day per week where I’m free from the distractions of work so that I can focus solely on spending time with the people I love.”
“Right now, my design philosophy is to be myself—Van. Jokes aside, I would say I’m just doing whatever I like, experimenting with more controversial stuff.”
“I got my tattoos done at 18 when I thought it was cool to get tatted like everybody else—ultimate regret! I’m in the process of removing them all because I think I’ll look better with a clean slate in a wedding gown. I’m currently single but a girl can dream.”
