“I’m from Lyon, France, and I’m taking a gap year here in Singapore before deciding what Masters Degree I want to pursue. I’ve been here for three months, and I love the food here. In France, I used to eat a lot of spicy Asian food, so it’s not really new to me. And I used to be a vegetarian, but I have to say satay is the best thing I’ve eaten here.”

“I currently run a home-based stuffed brownie business, which I started back in 2019, because in school, we need laptops, so I started selling brownies to raise funds for a MacBook. Later on, baking really grew on me, and it’s since become my passion.”

“When I was in primary school, I used to play the trombone quite often, because I was in the school band, but I stopped after I entered poly because I wanted to try something new. I have since picked up crocheting from my mum, and am now looking to get better at it—I made this mask chain myself!”

“I’m from Paris. I would say that it’s quite different from Singapore, in the sense that some places are a bit more dangerous that others. I definitely recommend not going to the North of Paris, because that’s what people would usually consider more dangerous, and it’s usually less pretty as well. The other places in Paris are pretty nice though!”

“I admire everything about my dad. I think he is one of the wisest people ever. Like if I ever need advice, he would be the person I would go to. His sense of humour is great too—I feel like he finds humour in everything, and nothing brings him down, so that’s something I really admire, because I could never!”

“I started modelling a long time ago, but it was only after my last year of poly that I became more serious about it. I thought now that I have a diploma, I can still find a job, at least when I want to, so I can just spend time exploring modelling as far as I can.”

"I entered law school because I’ve always wanted to be an international human rights lawyer, so that’s my long-term goal. Now I’m trying to take small steps towards this goal, and get to a point where I don’t need a well-paying job and can just help people.”

“In Singapore, it is too hot outdoors, and too cold indoors. I never know how to dress because if I wear summer clothes for the outdoors, then I need to carry something for when I’m indoors, because it’s too cold.”

“Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve is my favourite place in Singapore. I saw so many animals that I can’t see in France, and this is so crazy to me. For example, it’s strange to see crocodiles in nature, because in France, I can only see small animals in the wild, not reptiles.”

“The freedom of living independently is very refreshing. Back home, I have a big family, and sometimes it can be quite overwhelming living together, so it’s good to be able to manage my time on my own and not have any rules to follow.”

“I think the biggest thing I’ve learnt in school is how to start over again. Sometimes I get really stuck in my work, but I’ve learnt to not to be so hard on myself, and to give myself time to grow. I think that’s quite important.”

“Fashion has always been an interest of mine, but I never go to pursue it until now. Back when I finished my diploma in Tourism Business and Hospitality in polytechnic, I told my parents that it’s time for me to pursue what I wanted.”
