Samantha is a huge lover of cats, and beyond being a happy cat owner, you can almost always find something feline-related on her. This time, it’s a cat-shaped ring, one of her favourites. “I love spending time with my cats and fussing over them, and I also have rings, earrings, shoes, and other things with cats on them.” It’s her little way of personalising her look, like how a nice necklace can change any outfit, she says, although she has little trouble retaining her style while still looking corporate. “I would describe my style as comfortable and lazy,” Samantha says. “I used to prefer dresses for their ease, but these days I prefer separates, so I can have more outfits with less pieces in my wardrobe. If I’m unsure about a look, I just put on an outerwear.” While it might seem like Samantha is very much a quiet cat-lover, she says that she is quite an adrenaline junkie, and is always doing adventurous activities such as gliding, sky diving, or skiing whenever she’s on holiday. “I suppose I’m compensating for my sedentary lifestyle in Singapore!” Her dream holiday would be an expedition cruise to Alaska, she says, and if she wasn’t at her current job, she would love to own a bed & breakfast somewhere. Outside of work, Samantha says she hasn’t faced any problems in managing a work-life balance, so far, and that she isn’t one to give advice on coping. “We all face different challenges and have different priorities.” She spends her time outside of work with her cats, or hunting for good food. “I love to eat, but I wouldn’t say I’m a foodie. It’s just that I don’t want to waste my limited time, budget and stomach space on bad food.” One of her driving quotes in life comes from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s well-loved book, The Little Prince: “Well, I must endure the presence of a few caterpillars if I wish to become acquainted with the butterflies.”
