What do you do when you’re feeling overwhelmed at work?
I once had a chemistry teacher who used to say, “If you don’t know how to do a question in the exam, don’t cry! Because if you cry, you cannot see. And if you cannot see, how can you read the question properly?” And I’ve taken that with me since then. I usually take a deep breath, tell myself not to panic, and think through the next steps, or I scribble little checklists. I find that this little exercise really helps me to recalibrate and focus. Or I take a short walk or sit in the washroom for a bit of silence and calm.
What drives and inspires you to continue to do what you do, day in and day out?
A good work ethic. The work doesn’t have to be in and of itself meaningful or interesting for me to do it well and to the best of my ability. I want to be able to look back and know that whatever I’ve been tasked to do or done out of my own will, I’ve done the best I could, that I’ve been responsible and I’ve grown because of it.
What are some things that you can’t live without in your wardrobe?
A plain white top! I’m always on the look out for plain white tops in various cuts and styles as they go with everything.
If you could live in a book, movie or TV series, what would it be and why?
Friends! I’ve watched that series so many times, it almost feels like they’re my friends! (laughs)
What’s your biggest fear in life?
Losing my loved ones.
