Introduce yourself!
I’m Sara, and I’ve been working at the vintage/reworked fashion store re.drmg since last July. I’m part-time for now, but I hope to maybe go full-time one day—I love working there!

It’s so nice to find a job you genuinely enjoy! What are some of your fondest memories working at re.drmg?
All the customer interactions. A lot of people come by, and everyone has their own little stories, and with everyone that I meet, it’s like they become my best friend for the few minutes that they’re in the store—they tell me everything about their lives, it’s really fun!

It’s almost like you’re a little therapist! Do you dream of starting up a store like that of your own?
Not really. I’m more into music than fashion, honestly. Yeah, I’m really into the local music scene.

Tell us about some of the gigs you’ve been to lately.
I recently went for the Rock & Indie Festival at LASALLE. I wasn’t there the entire time because I had to work, but I did catch Taledrops. They were pretty sick.

So is rock your favourite music genre then?
I listen to a lot of different music, honestly. Sometimes I listen to R&B, some days I listen to pop-punk. But if you ask me, I love pop-punk and midwest emo mostly. I’m actually going for the Neck Deep concert in May!

Oh, cool! will this be your first time catching them?
Yeah, because I didn’t get to go when they came last year—the tickets sold out super fast back then! They’re not my favourite band, but pop-punk bands rarely come to Singapore, so I feel like for those that actually do, I have to go and see them, even if they’re not my favourite (laughs).

That makes sense. Do you think your taste in music has influenced your style in any way?
Yeah, definitely! I usually dress more rugged than this because of the music that I listen to.

Describe the types of pieces you tend to gravitate towards.
I wear mostly dark colours, and if there’s natural distressing, I love that. Sometimes, I’ll get basic pieces and wear them every day just to let them have that authentic, worn-in look. I love when my pieces look like that—like they’ve been worn and loved a lot. I don’t like things that look too polished.

Are there any particular fashion trends you’d love to adopt, or any sort of style you’d love to try?
I would say I want to be more eccentric, kooky, and even weird, but that’s kind of outside my comfort zone right now. But yeah I definitely want to explore more in terms of fashion. I think it’s really cute when you have a personality that people can see through the things that you wear.
