Ardent Flame
Tell us what you do for work. Do you enjoy working in this industry?
I’m a Manager at a bank but to me, my job is just a job. I’ve been in this industry for so long, so I’m used to the culture and day-to-day expectations. However, my passion lies in fashion.
How did your interest in fashion come about?
I’ve loved fashion ever since I was young when I travelled to Japan and saw many cool designers and styles there. For me, I’m really into dark and gothic clothing styles that are avant-garde and unique, and that translates to my own dressing as well.
Even though I work in a bank, I don’t think I suit the corporate look at all, so I’m like the fashionista in the company. Lucky for me, the bank I work at is not particular about dressing, so I can wear whatever I want as long as I look presentable.
What’s your favourite fashion brand?
All my clothes are from one Japanese brand—Julius. I first discovered this brand in Hong Kong back in 2020, and I found that their style really suits me and my body. I’ve been travelling to Japan every year to buy their products, but now that I can buy the pieces directly online, I don’t have to travel just to get them anymore.
Outside of work, what do you like to do?
I’m a big sports guy, so I love to play tennis and dress up to meet my friends. When I’m not at work, I can dress even more boldly, with long coats, high boots, or jumpsuits.
If you could speak to your younger self, what would you say?
I wish I could go back in time to tell myself to pick up design and pursue fashion as a career. If I did that, I could’ve been a designer now, or maybe an owner of a boutique, or a fashion buyer.
To you, what’s most important in life?
Firstly, we need to take care of our health. I try to maintain my health so that I can still follow fashion trends even when I reach 60 or 70. For me, I exercise at least twice a week and eat healthy food so that I can keep myself lean and trim, and I also go for health checkups regularly.
