Changing It Up

“I definitely think that my personal style can be best described as ‘versatile’,” Fizza says. “I hate conforming to a specific style, because I’m always open to stepping out of my comfort zone and switching up my looks.” Fizza loves mixing and matching some of the same pieces in her wardrobe to create different looks, and says that she’s naturally attracted to various styles. It’s great, then, that her office employs a flexible dress code and all she has to do is ensure that she’s appropriately dressed for meetings. At work, Fizza enjoys being able to deal with different people every day, although she’s considering going back to school to study Psychology. That isn’t stopping her from putting theory into practice at work, however. “I’m interested in the psychology of people in organisations. I want to improve the work environment so that employees can do their best possible jobs. We spend about 40% of our waking hours at work, and I want to make an impact on how happy people are during that time.” Career experience has taught Fizza that it is important for one to learn as much as possible from co-workers and senior colleagues. “Build up your own signature at work, improve, and never stop learning. Be humble, yet smart in your own way.” Ultimately, she says, life is too short to worry. “Don’t stress yourself. If you’re really under lots of pressure, take a break, go for a walk and enjoy the outdoors for a moment. Come back refreshed.” Her own personal way of taking a break is by making time for family, friends, and yoga, which she considers as her own personal space. We asked Fizza for a random fact that she’d like to share about herself, and she gamely recalls something that she did in her childhood. “I loved to collect spiders and kept them in matchboxes. I know it sounds unusual for a lady to do. I was kind of a tomboy at that age, but not anymore… well, maybe sometimes!”
