We bumped into Andie in what could be her typical, everyday outfit: a simple, knit midi dress, a pouch to hold her knick-knacks, and wedges for some added height — all in shades of nude, save for a touch of red on her lips. Andie tells us that she often wears dresses in solid colours, which form her repertoire of wardrobe staples. Her personal style wasn’t always so minimal though; she used to prefer loud prints and colourful pieces before she started working. Andie is currently in the technology and marketing industry, in a job she’s satisfied with although it comes with its set of stresses. Her dream, though, would be to become a policewoman, but Andie blames her lack of physical fitness for why this dream was never realised. “My physical abilities are so bad! Even if I wanted to become a detective, I’d still have to go for training.” As such, Andie makes do and feeds her passion by watching the American crime drama series, Criminal Minds. Another interest of hers, she shares, is reading up on aliens. “I believe aliens exist,” laughs Andie. “I used to research a lot about them, until I got too busy with work.” It’s clear that free-spirited Andie believes in staying true to herself, and not conforming to stereotypes. Her personal motto? “‘Be with people who appreciate you, not with those you want to impress.’ If I could speak to my 16-year-old self,” she goes on to say, “I’d tell her, ‘Be confident, it’s okay to be different.’”
