I recently moved to New York.
It’s great! It’s such a vibrant city, and what I really like is that everyone is so different and yet they embrace their differences. It’s also literally a city that never sleeps: you can wake up at 4AM and things will be happening—for example, there could be a pop-up party next to your place!
Change is good.
I mean, of course I have moments when I feel lonely and I miss my friends back home, and I wonder what’s going on back there. But being in New York really forces me to get out there, meet new people and experience new things.
What I miss most about Singapore:
The food! Otak, economical bee hoon, kway chap, char kway teow—everything!
Any exciting, upcoming plans?
I’m going to be spending New Year’s Eve at my friend’s place near Paris, and I can’t wait for that. It’ll probably be about spending time with friends, and seeing how the French party. I can imagine a lot of champagne.
Do you like champagne?
No, champagne is my nemesis! But I heard that, in France, people actually make their own foie gras and the entire meal will be handmade from scratch, so I’m super excited to have that. I’ve been putting on weight since I went to New York!
