Cultural Awakenings: Ong Shunmugam At Audi Fashion Festival

Close to home, Ong Shunmgam rolled out a beautiful show that was as aesthetically simulating as it was conceptually intriguing. Batik prints were heavily featured and juxtaposed against contrasting prints that bear a distinct Japanese-inspired flavour.

Signature cheongsam silhouettes also get subtle updates this season, with bolder and more experimental fittings carefully placed and considered. A touch of the kimono here, cheongsam there and everything in-between, the oeuvre this season expanded to beyond the cheongsam or the sari, but an all-encompassing ode to culture and architecture.

In some pieces, the female form was also apportioned in interesting panels that well showcase a play on colour, material, pattern and form. Structured and formal enough for work, but playful and spirited enough as a canvas of expression, we think these would be so perfect for Shenton Way, don’t you?

  • Hi thanks for posting photos of the gorgeous collections at the AFF.

Especially adore the Collette Dinigan and Ong Shanmugam collections. Any idea where we can purchase the pieces?

    Thanks.
