How did you end up becoming a lawyer?
I think like most people, I didn’t really know what to do, so it was based on elimination. And I wanted to do something that would give me more options next time.

Something interesting about me:
I love everything to do with Japan—the culture and everything. Sometimes I wish I was born there. I can speak a bit of Japanese and I recently travelled to the Kyushu countryside, where they mainly speak Japanese. It’s very rural and you hardly see any tourists there. It’s one of the nicest places and the air is really, really fresh.

If you could have more time to do something, what would it be and why?
I think I would design and build a house, but probably not in Singapore because there’s no space. Maybe somewhere that’s surrounded by the sea and mountains? There’d be a lot of concrete, and a lot of windows. Basically a lot of space lah, to just sit and contemplate.

If you could live in a TV series, what would it be and why?
Alias, this spy series from quite a long time ago, which starred Jennifer Garner. She was a CIA agent in the series. That was my secret dream last time—to be a CIA agent.

My favourite movie:
10 Things I Hate About You, because Heath Ledger was really cute in it (laughs).
