I’m from the United Kingdom (UK), and I’m currently training to be a lawyer.
I’m a trainee solicitor, and I’m in Singapore for a six-month secondment on corporate finance work. I was in Hong Kong for six months before this, and I’ve also lived in China, South Africa, and Cambodia.
Which of the places that you’ve lived in has been your favourite?
Hong Kong. It’s edgy and interesting, and the culture there is trendy. There’s a lot to do socially, you get to meet many new people, and I enjoy the fast-paced environment as well.
Where’s somewhere you’d like to travel to?
I’m actually travelling to South America in March next year, and I’ll be visiting Guatemala, Brazil, and Colombia. I’ll be travelling by myself for six weeks, and I’m going to spend part of that time trekking in the Amazon rainforest.
What’s something about the legal profession that most people don’t know about?
That there’s quite a significant commercial aspect to it. Most people think we just deal with legislation and case law, but our work often brings us in contact with different industries.
