What are you up to today?
I’m collecting a pre-ordered vinyl from a friend to add to my collection, and maybe look for a new spot to try for dinner.
What genre of music do you fancy?
I’ve recently been into an east-meets-west band based in Melbourne called Glass Beams.
When it comes to food, are you an adventurous eater?
I like trying new local foods, but I somehow always end up eating chicken rice anyway (laughs).
What’s your go-to chicken rice store?
Evertop Hainanese Chicken Rice—it’s an old halal stall in Clementi.
What else do you get up to in your free time?
Clean the house, travel, and thrift. My favourite places to thrift are Chatuchak Market in Bangkok and Japan as a whole.
Tell us what you do for work and how you got into this field.
I’m a power plant operator in Tuas. You know lah, parents in the past want their kids to study in fields like engineering, so I decided to give aerospace engineering a try. I’ve become very comfortable in this industry after almost a decade so I just decided to stick with it.
If I weren’t in this line of work, however, I’d want to set up a nice cosy café that sells coffee and I don’t know, maybe teh tarik (milk tea), with a lot of plants as decorations.
What’s something you hope to achieve this year?
I definitely want to get my driving license this year. I’ve already enrolled to a driving school but that’s about as far as I’ve done. I guess you can say that procrastinating is my number one hobby (laughs).
