Julia meets a lot of different people in the course of her work, so she finds it important to dress appropriately. “Nothing too short! First impressions are important. I personalise with accessories, especially necklaces. Comfort is key.” Her demure, pleated skirt is actually courtesy of her mother, although she got it tailored to fit her better. “I guess you could say she’s quite stylish,” she says. “We’re always sharing clothes.” The skirt was carefully picked out for today’s look. “I like flared skirts, because they make me feel happy, and I can twirl in them — they’re particularly good for Fridays!” Perhaps Julia’s feeling particularly upbeat because she’s preparing to leave for a vacation in London and Spain, and she loves that her job gives her the freedom and time to do so. “I have ownership over my work, and the ability to fulfil dreams and goals that are not just about material gains,” she says. “My work also enables me to spend quality and meaningful time with my loved ones, so I don’t find any difficulty in juggling life and work.” And although it might sound counterintuitive to some, the one thing that Julia’s learnt from her work is to be unafraid of taking risks, and when it comes to her personal beliefs, it’s best to start from within. “Be the type of person you want to meet.”
