Tell us more about what you do for work.
I work in HR supporting the Trust and Safety team in a company. What I like most about my job is that my company is full of talented, determined people. They are driven, and they really love their job. I’m very proud to be working at this company and supporting such devoted, talented people. I’ve been here for four years, which shows you how much I love my job.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Exercise. I do a lot of things like kickboxing, tabata, Zumba—I actually just got a licence, so I’m a licensed Zumba instructor now. I just like fast, intense activities.
I recently picked up longboarding too because I want to play with my nieces. They’re teenage girls, and I want to be part of their camp, and I think one way to do that is to do the same things as them (laughs). My sister-in-law was the one who encouraged me to longboard with her girls. That’s how I picked it up, and then I got a board, and have been going for classes to learn freestyle and dance longboarding.
Your earrings match your bag! Can you tell us more about your style?
It’s been a long time since I’ve worn makeup or a proper outfit, because I work from home, and I usually just go out to the gym or different fitness studios in Singapore, so I’m usually always in gym clothes. I’m going to a dinner with my colleagues visiting from other countries, so I’m more dressed up than usual.
Now that borders are opening up, are you planning to travel anytime soon?
I actually travelled to Italy mid-May to visit a childhood friend I’ve known for 20 years. I didn’t have any plans for that trip at all—I just left it all to him (laughs).
You mentioned you work in a tech company. How do you think the online or social media scene has changed in the last few years?
Well, I think there are a lot of younger people online now, and we generally have more freedom to express ideas and to share our daily lives. That said, we need to be careful what kind of information we put out, because while there’s more freedom of expression online, it’s also gotten more challenging for us to identify misinformation from truths.
