Tell us more about yourself.
Right now I’m doing marketing as an intern, but I’ve come to realise that I don’t particularly enjoy it. I’m waiting to start university, and then I can start doing computer science.

That’s very different—computer science and marketing. Why computer science?
I now know that I don’t enjoy marketing, so I wanted to do something completely different. That and also I’ve just always loved computers, and the chance to make something all on my own. If I have an idea, I can make it all by myself, so that’s something that I really quite like.

Have you always been into computers?
Oh yeah, for sure! I love games, and they’ve always been a part of my life ever since I was young. I just like the social aspect of games, because I get to meet different people and have made lots of friends from gaming. And also just hanging out after school at LAN shops is a classic memory.

What are some of your favourite games?
MapleStory! I mean, not now, but it was my favourite childhood game. Now it’s probably Counter-Strike or Animal Crossing (laughs).

What else do you like to do outside of work and gaming?
I love basketball a lot. I’m actually headed to play right now. I love the physicality of it. I especially like it when people play rough. I don’t know why, I think it’s the competitiveness in me I guess. I also like when I can thrash adults, like grown men. It feels so good, but I don’t know why (laughs).

If you could give yourself a piece of advice 10 years ago, what would it be?
I think I’ll say just take some time to think about the direction you’re heading towards, because one thing that I haven’t been doing well since young is taking initiative in things that I want to do. I’ve always been a more passive person, which is kind of a good thing because I can roll with the punches when things are bad, but sometimes, I just have to do something to change what I don’t like instead of ignoring it. I think I’m heading towards that direction right now, or at least I’m trying to.

What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to do, but have never taken the initiative to do it?
Oh, I’ve always wanted to be a DJ! I mean, I still can, and I actually recently started taking mixing classes, so you know, maybe when the clubs open up, someday I’ll get the chance to finally perform. That would be cool, right?
