Mitzi’s secret to staying comfortable: wearing skirts with a stretchy waist. “You are comfortable sitting down and moving about, and you can splurge at lunch too!” she says. “Especially if you’re at your desk most of the day. I think shoes, for me, always make a statement as well. You can look professional in the office, and have your funky heels come out for lunch or after work.” She counts herself as lucky to work in advertising — “Where our outfits can be as creative as our minds,” she says — and likes to rock any genre of fashion. “Whether it’s ‘70s free-spirt, ‘90s grunge, girly, or androgynous, I pick colours that complement my skin and hair tone, so I can step out of my comfort zone, but still feel comfortable.” Although she is fairly new to the corporate world, Mitzi loves the people that she gets to work with, and this has encouraged her to always speak her mind. “I love how dedicated everyone is, to produce their best work; the energy in the room motivates me the most,” she says. “People are not there to judge you or shoot you down. Tell them your ideas, tell them how you feel, and tell them your goals.” While she loves her job, Mitzi’s alternative career choice sees her blending her love of fashion and people. “I would love to be a men’s stylist or men’s personal shopper! Any takers?” Mitzi is still trying to find a work-life balance that she likes, but one thing that’s helped is setting aside time to go to the gym. “No excuses! Workout out is my outlet, and I crave time at the gym.” Mitzi believes in doing what she wants, and we see that philosophy influencing the way she dresses, works, and plays.
