Jennifer appears nonplussed when we stop her to take her photo, as if she can’t quite believe why we’ve singled her out. It’s her breezy look and colourful necklace that have caught our eyes, and she says that she actually made her own necklace out of a bicycle cable, thread, some crystals and leather. She finds her DIY inspiration online, and has been making little things as gifts for her friends as well as to amp up her outfits. “I always play around with prints and patterns — my current obsession right now is geometric patterns — or at least add a pop of colour to my wardrobe, whether its accessories or shoes, to brighten up my whole outfit.” She’s been collecting flats in a variety of colours, and is now on the hunt for the perfect pair of pointed red heels. “I like the colour red because it’s very bold, and I have a crazy obsession for shoes, particularly heels,” she says. “I always feel that I can never have enough perfect red heels.” Working in events gives her the opportunity to meet and work with people from different walks of life. “I’ve learned a lot from them, and even picked up some personal advice that helps me to discover myself deeper, and what I really value in my life.” She’s also found it important to stay above the inevitable office gossip and politics. “Surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you, and who inspire you. Like Eleanor Roosevelt said, “Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.”” It helps her to stay grounded at all times, and to see the bigger picture. “Be grateful for all the things that come into your life. Always look at the good side and opportunities in every situation, and be kind and stay humble. It will truly make you happy.” Jennifer is also a big fan of music culture, and is always on the lookout for different festivals and concerts to attend. Her secret ambition? “I’ve always wanted to be a drummer in an indie rock band!”
