Hand In Hand
Please introduce yourself.
My name is Franco. I’m currently serving in NS, but whenever I’m available, I play the guitar in the band stereoblu!
Is music a passion that you have?
Yes, I’ve been playing music since I was ten. My passion for it is largely influenced by my dad. He would play records of The Beatles and classic rock bands like Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, and Nirvana The Beatles and the classics, so that’s what I grew up with.
Did your dad teach you how to play the guitar as well?
He taught me some techniques, but I expanded on my skills on my own. He bought me my guitar and showed me how to play some chords, and that’s how I started off.
What’s your personal music taste?
I’d say my taste is pretty diverse, but my all-time favourites are definitely in the classic rock and Beatles-era kind of vibe—pretty much the music I grew up with.
Cool! Let’s talk about your band stereoblu—can you tell us how you guys got together?
It was actually Sufi who contacted me to join the band. He found the rest of our members online, and then we all got together for a jam session. There was this instant chemistry—we felt like there was something there, and that’s how it all started.
How would you describe the style of the band?
We play mostly indie pop, influenced by artists like Clairo and The Marias. That’s the sound that we’re trying to emulate.
How long have you guys been a band?
Since May of this year, so it’s been a few months.
And how has it been for you guys?
It’s been great—it’s a lot of fun for us. We haven’t played that many shows yet, but things are picking up and growing steadily. We’re also starting to gain a bit of a following on Instagram, which is nice to see.
Tell us about your very first gig as a band! Were you nervous?
Obviously we were, since it was our first show and there was a lot at stake. It’s the one we prepared for the most, with all our jamming sessions building up to that moment. We really wanted everything to be as perfect as possible. There were definitely some nerves at the start, but once we began playing, they went away. After that, it was all just about having fun and enjoying the moment!
How long did you spend preparing for that first show?
We did a lot of sessions. Probably around ten if we’re counting the first few times that we jammed.
Finally, what are your goals for the band?
We want to keep having fun. We don’t want this to just be a job. As long as we’re having fun, we’re going to continue doing it, and we’ll just see where it goes. We’re not putting unnecessary expectations on ourselves. At the end of the day, we’re just here because we love to play music.
