Where are you originally from and what brought you to Singapore?
I grew up in Kanagawa in Japan and lived in Tokyo until five years ago when my family moved to Singapore for my husband’s job.

Unfortunately, we’ll be moving to another country in July, but I really don’t want to leave. I love living in Singapore—the people are nice and there’s no stress here! I’m sad to be leaving so soon, and I hope to be able to come back again in the future.

What’s the biggest difference between life in Singapore and in Japan?
There’s no winter here in Singapore; I don’t like the cold, so having warm weather and blue skies all year round is paradise for me!

We see that you’re carrying a handmade bag, what other items do you enjoy making?
I make many things from bags to clothes to Peranakan bead accessories. I don’t sell them, though, they’re just for myself because I love to craft.

What does a typical weekend look like for you?
I usually bring my family to watch concerts and performances at the Esplanade by many companies like the Singapore Symphonic Orchestra and the Singapore Ballet.
