Lace & Finery: Backstage At Collette Dinnigam For Audi Fashion Festival
Nothing short of breathtaking, Collette Dinnigan’s Autumn Winter 2013 collection served as an ode to femininity, grace and beauty that hark back to the finery of the Renaissance. Composed of exquisite laces and sumptuous fabrics, an underlying quality of mystery and strength permeate the delicate collection.
Backstage, little pockets of people gathered around as last minute preparations were made – assistants milled about, make up brushes changed hands and models were huddled over boxes of food.
Dewy-skinned, kohl-eyed and with just a touch of powder-pink highlight on their cheeks, models sported makeup that was kept relatively light, with just a hint of dark-edged romanticism. As preparations ensued, designer Collette Dinnigan and four dressed models headed outside for a shoot against the beautiful evening skyline – where silhouettes of regality and beauty perched before the iconic flyer and Marina Bay Sands complex.
As lights dimmed, models waltzed down the aisle in ethereal fashion, a pensive gaze hung on their doll-like faces, further emphasising the richness and depth of the pieces. Serenaded by a final walk and a quick appearance by the designer, the show left us with that feeling of lightness that often comes with witnessing beauty and craft.
