Maximalist
Andrea’s colourful look belies the fact that she’s a banking apprentice, and has already been working for a year. At 21 years old, however, she says she’s still “the baby of the office”, although her age can both work for her and against her. “When I do something well, people praise me because I’m young, but at the same time they expect me to make mistakes as well.” Her youth and slight rebellious streak when it comes to office dress codes have also received some chiding remarks (“Andrea, tartan pants aren’t professional”), but it seems she can’t quite help it. “I love maximalism,” she says, as evident in her blouse today. “Pops of colour help me to stand out in the sea of black in the CBD, and I like accessories like badges and statement necklaces.” Andrea recommends shopping in Japan for well-preserved vintage pieces, and often raids her mother’s closet for clothes as well. “I guess I take style inspiration from my mum; she was quite stylish and fashionable back in her day.”
