Party Of 8: Parco Next NEXT At Audi Fashion Festival

By far one of the most energetic shows we’ve seen so far, the roster of Parco next NEXT designers brought on their A-game with collections that revealed ingenuity and that unmistakeable spirit of youth.

Comprising of 8 designers in total, the show kicked off with Revasseur’s nautical themed collection titled ‘Ships Ahoy’, where fun, flirty pieces cruised down the runway in hues of navy, red and white. Transitioning from the high seas to intergalactic realms, Coupe Cousu took us on a little sartorial tour in space. Bearing hints of that Bowie-esque sensibility from his Space Oddity album, pieces were awash with accents of gold like speckled stars on suits and foiled, colour-block panels that add that brilliant patina to a suited ensemble. Immaculately cut and cleanly silhouetted, the collection speaks of a quiet restrain that’s underscored with bold detailing.

Breaking the quietude was Kae Hana’s amalgamated collection featuring sprightly colours, edgy proportions and jazzy digital prints. Embracing women of all body types and ages, she sent a bevy of beauties that reflect just that down the runway. Amongst them, the jolly designer herself sashayed down to roaring response, while notable presenter and figure Anita Kapoor strutted her stuff in smiles and elegance. 20:TwoThree was up next – where a sombre, intriguing atmosphere set the tone for the pieces. Minimal, airy and harmonious in form, dresses draped and grazed the body, while a neutral palette makes for incredibly versatile pieces that will work great as separates.

At WSDM, wearables were the order of the day. Cottons and knits were utilised in varied combinations, while light layers and jubilant colours make for casual pieces in our climate. Stomping out in bold fashion next was Lion Earl, where a DIY mohawk headpiece crafted out of plastic cable ties added a nice contrast to the feminine pieces. Architectural lines melded with the female form and bold graphics sit alongside softer touches.

Moving on, Evenodd dishes out a clean, minimal collection spiked with edgier elements like pops of neon and metallic studs in various iterations. Kicking the show off with garments that blurred the lines between under and outer wear, the collection slowly transitioned into more formal terrain with shirts and pants re-imagined in modern ways. Perfect for the man who aims for unconventionality in the subtlest of ways.

Rounding the show on a high was Mash-Up, a streetwear collective that infects with their brand of unapologetic style. A melange of textures and prints, ethnic inspired elements are combined with hip hop motifs and applied on urban streetwear essentials – like T-shirts, skater dresses and pants, culminating in comfortable, easy pieces that speak.
