Perhaps Debra’s attention to how she looks has roots in the trips she made to the tailor with her mother when she was younger. “I have an appreciation for fabrics and good tailoring, and am immensely fascinated by the skill of sewing and tailoring,” she says. “Learning how to work a sewing machine is at the top of my bucket list, and if I wasn’t in Banking & finance, I would aspire to be a tailor.” As such, Debra believes in having clothes that fit well, and in making sure that the small details are all in place. “Bodycon and mini dresses should strictly be reserved only for party nights,” she says. “And one of my biggest pet peeves would be flip-flops with work clothes. Why spoil a well-fitted outfit with slippers?” Accessories are also important to Debra, who adds them on to the different combinations of the tops and bottoms in her wardrobe. “Accessories & watches are my greatest weakness!” she says. “I believe that a classic pair of shoes and a statement necklace can help to elevate even the simplest of outfits.” She readily admits that shopping is her guilty pleasure. “I am quite the impulsive shopper,” she says. “I have bought the same pair of shoes in the same design in up to 3 different colours!” Debra also says she is a bit of a perfectionist, which has its merits, but is not always a good trait. “I’ve realised this through my work experiences, and when I planned my wedding, just last September. I am grateful for my easy-going husband who provides the balance.” Love is still very much in the air for Debra, and she spends as much time as she can with her husband, friends, and family, despite the long hours she puts in at work. “Having coffee with my husband makes the perfect start to my day,” she says. “I am also blessed to have intersecting social circles — my family, friends and husband are a close-knit bunch. I have grown up with some of my best friends since we were in kindergarten together, and they get along well with my family. Plus, it helps that my husband and I have mutual friends, and that both our respective families get along very well and occasionally have meals all together.” Debra was our Shentonista of the Year for 2014; see her post here.
