Quiet Space

Can you tell us about the best decision you’ve ever made?
One of the better decisions made in recent times was adopting my cat last year. My siblings and I never really had a pet growing up, so it’s been an absolute joy having our cat follow us around the house. There’s something quite special about having a black fur ball constantly demanding to be stroked or inviting you to rub his belly (not only because this is atypical cat behaviour!)

A quote I’m living by right now:
“Be faithful in the little things.”

Scariest thing I’ve ever done:
Skydiving. I have a fear of free-falling, so I had to conscientiously remind myself to breathe from the moment my instructor pushed us off the plane. The experience was amazing though—my friends and I skydived in Texel (an island in the northern regions of the Netherlands) in spring, so we were blessed with pretty lovely views of tulip fields. 

What are some of your favourite comfort foods to eat?
Chirashi don, cai png (economic rice) with lots of curry, and bak chor mee (minced pork noodles). Otherwise, anything prepared by my mum would automatically qualify as comfort food. 

What do you do to destress when you feel overwhelmed at work?
I’ve recently taken to sitting by the bay and listening to the psalms from the Bible—I’ve got an audio Bible app on my phone—either during my lunch hour or after office hours. While not always terribly private, it allows me to retreat into my own quiet space and gives me time to reframe my thoughts.
