You’re from Beijing—what do you like to do when you go back to visit?
I go back maybe once a year, and I like to visit friends and eat. Some of my favourite foods are roast duck, and spicy dishes in general.
Are there any places you must go to when you’re back in Beijing?
I like to go to the 798 art district to catch up on the latest developments in the local art scene, and I also go to Tiananmen Square—to me, it’s a place that best represents Beijing.
Having lived here for 13 years, what do you like most about Singapore?
I like that getting things done here is convenient and that people are straightforward. In Beijing you have to deal with a lot of bureaucracy and inefficient processes, and it can be very frustrating.
What’s a piece of advice you’d give to young people who are just entering the workplace?
I’d say you should always be ready to learn. Besides that, it’s important to not let yourself be too stressed out.
