Sweet Tunes
Featuring
What have you been up to recently?
I’ve been so busy and quite honestly just trying to stay sane (laughs). This year has been so hectic with campaigns, and I’m recording new music again, which is exciting—it’s a good kind of busy!
How do you find the time to do so much?
Time management is very important, that’s just how it is with freelancing. One week I can have no plans, and the next week I’m swamped by the hour. Thankfully, I like planning and organising. My Google calendar is my life and I even have all my plans colour-coded!
Sometimes staying focused is easier said than done, especially when it comes to making music. I just started recording my first single, but I’m not really following a strict timeline for this project. Since I’m the artist, boss, and manager all in one, and my producer is also a friend, I find myself going off track very easily (laughs).
I also teach art classes at Artify Studio every Thursday and go for my music residency at Supply & Demand Orchard Gateway on the weekends. It gives me some form of structure and routine in my otherwise fluctuating schedule.
We hear that you co-host a podcast too. What’s it about?
It’s called The Hop Pod, a podcast that discusses stories of life transitions. It’s been really fun because I’m basically paid to hangout with my friends, and we get to yap non-stop on camera (laughs).
This year, I’m prioritising —
— myself. Last year was very purposeful, and quite intense, because I got married. But this year, I just want to chill and listen to my inner child a bit more.
Tell us more about your pets! Do you plan on getting any more?
I have an 11-year-old Maltipoo and a 2-year-old tabby cat, who was a foster fail because we decided to keep him three days in (laughs). They both get along very well, which solidified the decision for us.
I’ll probably not get any more pets because they’re expensive as hell! My dog tore her Cranial Cruciate Ligament (CCL) and the surgery cost $7,000! It’s equivalent to an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in humans, which is common among rugby players; my dog probably tore hers from jumping up and down on the bed, like bro…
You’re currently learning Japanese. What other languages do you want to pick up?
Korean, Italian, Spanish, French, Bahasa Indonesia, American Sign Language, and also brush up on my Mandarin. My dream is to be a polyglot. I feel that language is about communication and being able to connect with people, so I think it’s fine as long as I can speak languages at a conversational level.
