We couldn’t miss Catherine in her quirky hairstyle and eye-catching pants. She says she isn’t usually dressed like this for work, but as it is casual Friday at the office, she has the chance to let loose. She still makes sure that she looks put-together, however; she’s recently been altering some of her ready-made clothes so that they fit her better. “It wouldn’t bother me before if my clothes were a bit loose on the waist or a bit long on the hem,” she says. “But now I think, if it can fit better on my body, then why not? Small adjustments usually do not cost that much and a little alteration goes a long way.” She admits that alterations can be quite hit-and-miss until you get the right fit, so she advises those who do get their clothes altered to try it on after it has been altered. “Some shops in Far East Plaza will amend alterations for free and complete it half-an-hour later.” Catherine is a fan of prints and pants, and bemoans the difficulty in finding a good pair of stockings. “It can be hard to imagine how they’ll look on your legs unless you wear them, which you can only do after you buy. Some of them look ashy, some powdery, some too dark,” she says. “Cheap stockings will pill immediately — and need I mention the woefully outdated packaging!” Expensive stockings can cost the same as pants, she adds, and there’s no guarantee that either will last. Her solution? “Just wear pants!” Working in the CBD, Catherine says that she’s always on the lookout for cheap and good food places with short queues and sufficient seating — she shares some of her finds. “There are some places in Marina Bay Link Mall and Food Garden in Asia Square,” she says. “It’s also hard to find such a place for yong tau foo — I know two, one in Foodfare in Marina Bay Financial Centre, and another in Hong Leong Building, but the queue is just ridiculous even if you  go after 1:30pm!”
