The Waiting Game
We caught Natalia on her way to a casting session, and she rocks the typical model-off-duty look by pairing a simple black dress with a pair of sandals. “My personal style is a mix of grunge and French. For me, the most important thing is to feel comfortable, no matter if it’s fashionable or not.” Nonetheless, she says people shouldn’t forget about their individual style when dressing up for work. “Even if your dress code is very strict, you can still show off your own style with something small, like jewellery.” Even though Natalia loves being able to travel and meet new people from different parts of the world, she says that the life of a model isn’t all glamour. The time she spends travelling means time away from family and friends, so she tries to Skype with them as much as she can, although the time difference makes it difficult sometimes. “Also, the thing I dislike the most is waiting,” she says. “Sometimes you need to wait five hours just to walk for ten minutes down the runway, but with a good book, waiting isn’t that bad!” Natalia also loves to write, and would love be a writer someday; she’s currently studying more about the subject. Whenever she’s back at home, she tries to spend as much time as she can with her friends and family, and away from the computer. She also has a list of things she’d like to do before she dies. “It’s about trying new things, visiting new places. The last thing that I did on the list was to watch every movie directed by Quentin Tarantino.” Since she’s on her own a lot, Natalia finds strength in her favourite quote: “‘They laugh at me because I’m different; I laugh at them because they’re all the same.’ I’m just trying to live my life, no matter what people think.”
