Sally has a penchant for vintage, thrifted clothes, and enjoys putting things together in a creative manner. “Sometimes I might look crazy,” she says. “But I think I like that.” Sally’s been travelling quite a lot the past couple of years, and we met her while she was here with her husband, backpacking around Southeast Asia for a month. It could be that travelling is one way she’s trying to be more self-aware, something she’s been considering of late. “I’m living week by week right now, and thinking about how much time I’ve spent doing something meaningful.” Right now, her work is pretty rewarding in itself; Sally has been a human rights lawyer for 6 years, and works with communities that are facing oppression. “I saw a lot of injustice growing up, particularly towards people of colour,” she says. “I work with families, and try to support and empower them. It gives me strength and energy.” Her advice to anyone just joining the workforce? “Think about how the kind of work that you do would affect others, and think about the choices you make and how they would impact the world.”
