Where are you from?
I’m from Hebei in China, but I just came from Melbourne where I was studying for eight years. Although I got a job offer in Australia, I decided to move here with my Singaporean husband three months ago. Everything was decided in two days, but I think it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.

I have a love-hate relationship with the weather in Melbourne.
Other than that, I like the food, culture—it’s multi-cultural like Singapore—and landscape. I’d recommend a road trip out of the city: I once drove from Melbourne to Gold Coast and then Sydney.

What do you like about Singapore?
The shopping here. It’s much easier, and you can get everything done in one place. In Melbourne you don’t get much choice. I also prefer the weather here—Melbourne’s too cold! (laughs)

What’s one thing you’d recommend in Hebei?
Actually, with the weather these days, I wouldn’t recommend going there! (laughs) There’s been a haze and it’s been quite bad.

My most memorable trip:
To New Zealand, the South Island. I went in July earlier this year—everything was impromptu and we went everywhere we wanted. That’s my favourite type of trip.
