What brings you to the CBD today? Do you work in the area?
Yes, I currently work around the area, but I’m on a short break now.

Before this, I was working as a Grab driver, but I stopped after a few months because it was too tiring. I used to drive from one morning to the next morning, 7AM to 3AM! So after I stopped, I took some time to relax before looking for my next job.

Outside of work, how do you enjoy spending your time?
I like to play soccer—I play every weekend. I usually play at Yishun as it’s near my home in Woodlands, and I always play in the morning so that I can rest for the whole day after.

How long have you been playing soccer?
I’ve been playing ever since I was 12. It’s my favourite sport! But I also like to swim and cycle now and then.

I also watch soccer matches regularly—my favourite team is Arsenal.

We love how retro your outfit is! Do you usually dress up when you go out?
Actually, last time, ya lah, I’ll dress up a lot more, but now I’m older, so I’ll just wear whatever I have in my wardrobe. But these days, I like to wear more retro outfits.

You must have loved shopping a lot when you were younger then!
Yeah, how come you know? (laughs) Now I only shop at Malaysia’s Big Bundle in Johor Bahru because it’s cheaper there. I also shop through their Facebook live videos to bid for pieces that I like.

When I was younger, I used to buy expensive brands like Armani, but now I feel like it’s not worth it. I prefer thrifting because the things I get are unique—I’m the only one who owns it.

How would you say your style has evolved over the years?
Last time, I was into the more rugged style and way of dressing, but now I like the retro vibes.

My friends have asked me why my style changed so much, but I tell them I changed because I like it. I don’t follow people or trends because these won’t last long.

What’s one thing you can’t leave the house without?
A hat. I like to wear hats, and I have so many of them, up till the point where I have to give them away to my friends or sell to them for cheap.

What’s your current favourite colour to wear?
Purple or blue, as you can tell!
