“My favourite part of my job is getting to do what I love, and I am very blessed to be able to do it. I’ve always been interested in fashion, and over the years, knowing that I can make a difference in the fashion industry in Singapore is something that I have the privilege of doing.” Rachel is part of the team behind Love, Bonito, a local fashion label that is making waves both here and abroad. It’s a job that she describes as something that lets her change women’s lives: “It’s about bringing out the confidence in women through well-designed and well-made clothes.” She definitely knows what she’s talking about in this strong, bold ensemble, which she specially picked to complement the prints and colour of her Anna Sui tote bag. Rachel’s must-haves in her bag include a book and a handy camera — to get inspiration and for capturing moments that inspire her — and of course, a little powder compact for moments when she needs to look her professional best. While work can sometimes be a 24/7 job, Rachel says that the fact that she loves what she does, and learning how to keep her life balanced, has kept her going. “It was initially tough for me to juggle personal time and working life, but over the years I’ve learnt to cope better,” she says. “I’ve learnt the importance of balance, because it keeps me sane.” Having grown her brand for four years, Rachel says she’s thankful that Singapore’s government is supportive of businesses, which in turn, makes it that bit easier to do business both in Singapore and in the region. She also likes that we are a country that embraces different races and religions, and how we live in a safe and clean environment. It’s something that she embraces, and has kept her strongly rooted. “People usually say that the grass is greener on the other side,” she says. “But I believe that the grass is greener where you water it.”

The limited edition Anna Sui tote bag featured is not for sale. Find out how you can get one at here.

This is a Shentonista project for UOB Cards, in collaboration with Anna Sui.
