UOB Cards X SHENTONISTA — Up And On
Celeste’s sophisticated, solid-coloured outfit serves to emphasise the delicate prints on her Anna Sui tote bag, but little elements, like her spunky hairdo and florescent-coloured nails, hint at a hidden feistiness. “You’re a victim of your own mind,” she says. “I have no idea who said this, but I think it pretty much sums up my life motto. It’s what you believe you can achieve, and whether you take a positive or can-do attitude when you meet with obstacles, or whether you just get consumed by negativity.” With this in mind, Celeste pours herself completely into whatever she does, and keeps herself centered in all her pursuits, but is also mindful of maintaining some a sense of balance. “Whenever I’m not working, I just like to chill and do nothing,” she says. “I’d be catching up with friends over coffee, or just having breakfast on my own and getting some me time.” It seems that Celeste is quite a foodie as well — beyond her sunglasses (“It’s Singapore, the sun is always out!”) and lip balm, she always has some mints on hand. “I love garlic,” she laughs. “And I love the variety of affordable and tasty local food we have. That’s the one thing I always miss if I’m traveling out of town for any longer than four days!” Having worked in the nightlife industry for a decade, Celeste is also thankful that she can feel safe even when she has to go home in the wee hours of the night. “I’m also very proud of our airport,” she says. “Without fail, every time I come back to Singapore after a trip, there’s just something about stepping out into Changi Airport.” Celeste is probably a homebody at heart, and says that she’s looking for a change and a slower pace of life. “I loved being surrounded by so many people, I loved the lifestyle, and I had all that energy back then,” she says. “But after 10 years, I just wanted a different lifestyle, something a bit more regular, with some sort of structure. It might be strange because I know that most people hate that, but because I’ve never had that kind of structure, it’s an experience that I’m actually looking forward to.”
