Overalls remind us of outfit choices from our childhood days—when things seemed simpler—and are thus not usually associated with the usual work getup. These days, however, they’ve been given a more grown-up look, and if you’re feeling adventurous and up for some experimentation, overalls are a good combination of comfort and style. Whether it’s a pinafore-like dress worn over a long-sleeved top, or something closer to a sleeveless jumpsuit with wide legs worn over a muscle tank, we like how the options range from quirky to sophisticated. Denim or cotton work better for a weekend off, while structured materials and a tailored fit are more office-appropriate. Pair with heels for a formal day at work, and switch to sneakers for a night out or casual dress-down Fridays.
