What would your dream job be if you weren’t a media planner?
I’m more of a people person, so I’d probably work in the food & beverage industry or in public relations where it’s more interactive. I used to work part-time as an assistant in a wine bistro when I was in university, where I picked up some knowledge about wine. That was also when I started to develop an interest in wines and drinks, whisky in particular.
What’s one lesson that you’ve taken away from your years at work?
Be kind. I think a lot of times people are too engrossed in their work that they lose the human aspect of themselves. I’m constantly reminding myself that there’s no reason to flare up or be temperamental no matter how hard things get.
Best decision ever:
Taking my diving course. I started diving five years ago, when I was still in university. It was an impromptu decision as my friends got me to explore something I’d never done before. Now, it’s an activity I try to incorporate into my travels. My best dive experience was the one I had in Bali, where I saw two manta rays mating. The movements that they made were beautiful to watch.
If you had all the time in the world to do anything, what would it be and why?
I want to try living abroad for a year or two, just to have a feel of what it’s like. I like to travel, and I think that it’d give me the exposure to new experiences and cultures. Since I’m already living in Singapore, I’d like to experience something beyond the cosmopolitan city lifestyle, such as living in a more laid-back country like Bali.
My work perk-me-up:
Drinks. I think it’ll be awesome to be able to have mid-day drinks during work. Most of the time, my boss, colleagues, and I will have a drink on Fridays when we are done with work. We’ll just open a bottle of wine and some beers.
