Head And Shoulders

In this perennial summer heat, scarves may seem an odd choice of accessory at first, but they have just as much to offer as a jacket or statement necklace. Whether you have one wrapped around your shoulders, or just hanging loose around your neck, they introduce an element of volume and shape to streamlined outfits, making for an interesting silhouette. Printed or patterned pieces can contrast or complement the rest of your outfit, adding colour to a more muted getup, or accentuating the tones already present with a dash of secondary colours. Materials and textures also provide room for experimentation. A knitted version makes for a good, more compact alternative to your usual cardigan. Silk scarves add just a dash of Bohemian glamour—when tied up into a headband or bandana, they impart the air of a free spirit.
