Primary Pairings

When you’re in a rush in the morning, it helps to always have combinations you know will work. But if you’ve caught yourself wearing blue, black, and grey one time too many this month, why not find new inspiration? Here, we see our Shentonistas pairing a primary colour with its complementary tone. This requires a careful balance, however, and the trick is to pair dark or muted shades—think mustard with eggplant purple, or navy with an earthy orange. While we’ve seen quite a few successful examples of blue and orange ensembles, yellow and purple is a more challenging combination, but one we’d love to see more making an attempt at. Of course, matching red and green doesn’t mean you have to look like a walking Christmas card—try matching burgundy with forest green for a subdued, but no less bold look.
