Art can be intimidating for many people—as an artist, what’s one advice you’d give to someone hoping to explore art?
Ultimately, art is about what you’d like to perceive. It can seem intimidating but I encourage everyone to walk into a gallery or an exhibition with an open mind, and see what they can take away from it.

Is there an art period that you’d say is your least favourite?
I wouldn’t say I dislike any particular period—I think that’s too strong a word—but I’ve never really grasped Romanticism. That said, art is subjective, and what you enjoy is very different from what someone else likes about art.

If you had the ability to change one thing about your past, what would it be?
Not so much a big change or particular circumstances, but I’d like to tell my younger self, at the age of 18, to be present with myself and the moments that surround me—to think less and feel more.

A genie offers to grant you three wishes—what would your wishes be?
1. To continue to make a living from doing what I love.
2. The ability to never get jaded or comfortable.
3. More time!

If you could change something about the art industry in Singapore, what would it be?
Art does not always have to be attached to intellectualism, both for the creator and the audience.

A habit you’re hoping to cultivate in 2020 is:
Not to avoid any emotions that I have, allowing myself to ride through the highs and lows.
