Tell us more about yourself and where you’re from!
My name is Swam and I’m from Myanmar. I came to Singapore to study finance at the Singapore Management University, but I’m also currently working part-time teaching robotics to kindergarten kids.
Aww, cute! Do you like interacting with kids?
Yeah, it’s quite fun! Though sometimes they can be very tough to handle…
Oh yeah, we can imagine. You mentioned you’re studying finance—do you plan to find a job in Singapore after you graduate?
Yeah, I can’t go back to Myanmar now because of the political situation, plus I’m bonded to the Singapore government, so I will have to find a job here after I graduate.
Is finance something you’ve always wanted to pursue?
Well, if I didn’t have to care about money, I would love to be a fashion designer (laughs).
Trust us, we wish life wasn’t all about money either. We must say, we really like your style though! Where do you usually get your clothes from?
I thrift a lot, and I cherish a lot of secondhand pieces. I like to go to pop-ups and events like the Hammock Market, and I scroll through Carousell on a daily basis (laughs), because that’s how you’ll find the gems first!
