Peggy juggles her job as a blogger and writer along with managing her café, the The Tiramisu Hero, and although she admits that it can get tough, she loves every bit of it. “I don’t really think I have a work-life balance, but I actually enjoy the process at my café,” she says. “I enjoy what I do, and I always live by this belief: to live a few years of my life like most people won’t, so I can live the rest of my life like most people can’t.” When it comes to her blog, which she has been running for about seven years, Peggy says she has a natural desire to want to share information with people. “I also see it as a platform where I can educate people on certain ideas and to share what I think,” she says. Her café, on the other hand, is a place for her to have a bit of fun. “We wanted it to be homely, and we always try to make things fun so that it’s not just a place for you to dine.” Describing her style as androgynous, comfortable, and mostly monochromatic, the Anna Sui tote bag completes her look with a little splash of colour. Peggy always carries around her organiser and calls herself old-fashioned in this sense. “I still like to jot down my appointments and any ideas I have, or whenever I’m inspired to doodle and write.” At the same time, she also has to have her wallet and cellphone with her at all times, and says that besides using her phone to be contactable, it also acts as her window to the world of social media. When it comes to the things she’s most proud of, being Singaporean, Peggy says, “It’s great that we have people from different ethnic groups and origins living together harmoniously, exchanging cultures and knowledge.” She’s also grateful for our widely-recognised passport, as well as the cleanliness and safety of our country. “As much as we often take this for granted, I know it didn’t come easy,” she says. “I am proud of the people who made and maintained Singapore this way.
