Senior Training Manager
How did you come to be doing what you’re doing today?
I started off as a trainer a long time ago, training hard skills in hairdressing. Of course, within the hard skills, there’s also the consultation part that trainees must learn. I started teaching them the skill of delivering the entire experience for customers who visit us. That’s probably how the soft skills training came in and I started off my career from there. I’m currently the senior training manager for Spa Esprit.
I have a passion for hairdressing.
When I first started, it was purely hairdressing. That was after the army. With my technical background, I found the job easy and I felt that I could do well in the industry, so I pushed myself to get better. After about six months in the industry, there was an opportunity for me to teach and that was when I thought, why not try it?
If you could time travel and revisit a time in the past, what would you do and why?
I think I would like to be in the ’60’s. I grew up with the music from then, and I miss all of that. That’s also when people started doing things that were more out of the norm and were more daring.
If I had a million dollars, I would…
Donate half a million, and use the other half to buy a flat.
Share an ideal weekend.
I’ll start off the morning by flying my remote-controlled helicopter, come back for lunch, meet up with a few friends, play a couple of games of snooker and in the evening, meet my wife for dinner.
If someone were to offer you an unlimited supply of something, what would you ask for?
Coffee pua sio (half-hot).
