Tell us a bit more about yourself and where you’re from.
I’m a doctor from Argentina, and my boyfriend and I are visiting Singapore on holiday. We’re only here for four days, but we’ve spent about a month travelling Asia in Cambodia and Thailand. After Singapore, we will head to Doha for a day before going back to Argentina to continue working.

How has your trip been so far?
It’s really nice! Asia is beautiful, and it’s really, really different from Latin America.

The food as well—we’re not too used to spice, because in Latin America, it’s not that common to eat spicy foods, but here in Asia, I’m starting to like the taste of it. My boyfriend likes it the most—he’s eaten spicy food everyday (laughs).

What’s your favourite Asian dish that you’ve tried on this trip?
It was the pad thai from Thailand. I love it so much I ate it almost everyday. I mean, since I’m in Asia, I have to try everything, and if I like it, I will keep eating it.

Is this your first trip since COVID?
To a foreign country, yes. In Argentina, we have been travelling a lot too, because if you’ve seen it on the map, it’s really big, like a big triangle, so there are many things to do and see—all the waterfalls, glaciers, vineyards.

It’s also difficult for me to leave work as a doctor, and it’s two days of travelling to get from Argentina to Asia. I had to arrange everything like appointments with patients and other stuff, but it’s worth it.

How long have you been a doctor, and what made you want to go into this field?
I’m 30 now, and I’ve been a doctor since I was 24 years old. It takes four years to get a specialisation, so I became a dermatologist at 28.

My father is also a doctor, but he’s a paediatrician, which has nothing to do with dermatology, so I don’t know, I guess I just really like working with skin. And dermatology is really broad. You have aesthetics, surgery, oncology, so it’s really nice to get to do everything.

I love doing surgeries for skin cancer, and I also like some parts of aesthetics, mostly using lasers for treatments, because there are many things you can do with lasers now.

How did you and your boyfriend meet?
We met four years ago, at a wedding for our mutual friends. I had just come back from the Dominican Republic, and he had just arrived from Andorra, and we happened to meet there at the wedding. It’s fate! (laughs)

What’s the biggest thing that he’s taught you in your relationship?
We’ve been living together for a year, and he’s an architect, so he’s more of the stylist for our home. He is in charge of everything in terms of the decoration, because I know nothing! (laughs) I’m a disaster at decorating, so he’s taught me to be more stylish in that part.

That and well, he’s a really good person, so I’m always learning from him too.
