A crisp white shirt, complete with a navy pencil skirt with a flared hem, Melissa’s outfit is both modest and evergreen. “I usually look out for tops in solid colours that are easy to mix and match, and then I’ll usually play around with the bottoms.” A design consultant, Melissa also looks beyond versatility when selecting her outfits. “Design and cut are big considerations. As we work closely with other interior designers and architects, anything interesting in our outfit could spark off a new topic.” Melissa enjoys her job for the people that she gets to meet daily, but if she could, she would love to have more time to travel. “The world is my oyster, and I would love to explore and experience as much as I can now.” Though work can sometimes get hectic, Melissa reminds herself to constantly stay positive. “My colleague taught me about the Law of Attraction, which follows the idea that we are the sum of our thoughts and we can achieve what we imagine we can.” Melissa also believes in treasuring the people around her; if she could turn back the clock, Melissa would have spent more time with her grandmother and “not make empty promises”. It seems like she’s trying to learn from past experience, now guided by a quote from Mark Twain: “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the things you did.”
