Tell us something interesting about yourself.
I’m part of @acleanattempt, an Instagram account that promotes zero waste living. I started it with my sister, and it’s all about sustainable practices. We make our own toothpaste, shampoo bars, and soap, and we’ve been doing this for a long time now. We’ve had many people ask questions about what we do, so we thought we should just set up an Instagram account and share our knowledge. Sometimes we think about things from different perspectives, so it’s nice to share ideas and learn new ways of living.
Can you tell us a bit more about making your own toothpaste?
The idea behind it is to reduce plastic waste. The problem with toothpaste is that it’s packaged in plastic, wrapped in cardboard which is unnecessary, and then wrapped in plastic again. We just want to reduce packaging. My sister’s point of view is that we should reduce 90% of the things we don’t actually need.
What is your Plan-B, ‘if-all-else-fails’ career choice?
I think I’ll open up a bulk store and conduct workshops on clean living!
What’s your biggest fear in life?
I was just asked this yesterday—losing loved ones. It scares me to death, pun intended.
If you could trade lives with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
My husband, I think. We have a policy of not talking about work, and sometimes I want to know exactly what about his job stresses or inspires him, how he does his job and how his working environment is different from mine. He’s a radiologist, so you can imagine it’s worlds apart from my job.
What’s the one thing you think you should be doing more of, or that you wish you had more time to be doing?
Finding peace among the chaos through meditation.
