Introduce yourself.
My name is Beth and I’ve been working as a researcher for a heritage foundation for about two years now! I studied architecture in university, which naturally led to my interest in conservation and culture. My favourite part of the job is that every project covers a completely different theme or topic, so I always get to learn something new.

Cool! What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, I love to just walk around—whether it’s exploring HDB estates or random neighbourhoods I’ve never been to before. I don’t have a specific destination in mind, I just like to see wherever my feet lead me.

I’m also really into handiwork and crafts, which makes me love traveling to places like Japan where they take so much pride in traditional craftsmanship.

Were you just walking around the area when we approached you then?
I’m actually going to meet my husband for dinner right now. It was his first day at his new job and we’re celebrating!

What advice would you give to your younger self?
If I were to be completely honest, life is good, and you don’t need to stress over every little thing. (laughs) Just trust the process and enjoy the journey!

Lastly, what’s something you’re looking forward to for the rest of 2026?
Definitely more travels ahead, especially planning future trips back to Japan! I love it there and really want to immerse myself more in local artisan culture and handiwork. There’s so many kinds of craftsmen and handiwork to explore and enjoy!
